I had no idea that the "siesta" could shave so much time off of your sleep requirements. Considering my body screams for 9.25 hours every night, I will make every attempt to do a "siesta" whenever possible.

I also hear that 20 minutes of meditation functions in the same way.

Great article!

Re: Create the Filter | Dustin Curtis

wow, good stuff. I don't know if I can do it but I may have to try. I love working so to be able to cut back on my sleep would be great. Maybe you could comment on how long it takes for these methods to kick in and your body adjusts.

Re: Create the Filter | Dustin Curtis

Well, I also go to bed at midnight and wake up at 6am yet I don't take any naps and I'm still healthy. =]

Re: Create the Filter | Dustin Curtis

DAMN, this is the most fascinating thing I've read in a long time! I think we are like cats- need more "naps" . I have always arranged my life so that I can stay up late, get up early and take one long nap in the afternoon. ie: bed at midnight - up at 6 AM. nap from 4 to 6 PM. It works perfectly for me!! I also think it's healthier.

Re: Create the Filter | Dustin Curtis

great article!I found a new pzizz sleep product to be very helpful to my dad..when he gets a great nights sleep it helps him be less grumpy which in turn helps me out a lot throughout the day!him no stress, me no stress :D you can check it out at http://www.pzizz.com

Re: Create the Filter | Dustin Curtis

This is interesting but OVERALL your body is actually a mechanical machine. Although its very complex but you are actually in more control of it then you think. Its just the matter of being lazy or not. If you go by a schedule, and still with it. Your body will adapt with the schedule. But the first step is the hardest one. I tought myself to get only 2-4hours of sleep but still be rested. This is due to constant staying up and working. IF YOU BELIEVE, THEN YOU CAN DO IT.

Re: Create the Filter | Dustin Curtis

WHY IS EVERYTHING HERE FUCKING HUGE?!?!

(waiting for the perfect "thats what she said" reply hahaha)

-Bella :)

Re: Create the Filter | Dustin Curtis

Thats halarious

Re: Create the Filter | Dustin Curtis

Tom, I'd be interested to know if you can give me some info on REM in CFS. Your brain and body do not compensate for "lost" sleep....nor can you avoid the inevitable consequences of chronic sleep deprivation. There is an entire body of scientific research (unlike the pseudo-commentary offered by Wiki) that can speak to this. I hope for everyone's sake we are not behind or near you when you fall asleep behind the wheel and drive your car over three lanes of traffic. Get some real professional help: there are over 5000 board certified sleep physicians in the U.S. alone. Try the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (www.aasmnet.org) as a starting point to uncover some real and meaningful research about sleep disorders and their impact on society. Trivializing sleep and promoting pseudo-methods of improving one's lifestyle can only lead to problems with health. Remember: Bill Clinton used to boast about only "needing" 4 hours of sleep each night. A cardiac bypass later and improvement in his health has him quoting the need to get the recommended 7 hours of sleep.

"Discover the power of sleep"

Re: Create the Filter | Dustin Curtis

this is for companies to want us to work for a longer time
why is that obsession for being more productive every time?
the perfect guide for getting crazy

Re: Create the Filter | Dustin Curtis

Interesting article. Do you really need an extra 4 hours a day to do more work? check other ways first to be more productive."

I think not everyone want to spend it with work :) Think about it, with a 8-hours job and 1-1 hours commute, you have about 6 hours to have all the cooking, cleaning, shopping, exercising, hobby activities and "family time" done. And for lots of people it's not enough time, so they don't have any time for their own hobbies and projects in the end. That's why I think the majority would like to be awake more time a day.

Re: Create the Filter | Dustin Curtis

Hallo!

I'm currently adapting to dymaxion.

http://jkpolyphasic.blogspo...

Re: Create the Filter | Dustin Curtis

it's just ridiculous to think that sleep is a "waste of time"
what the fuck is that damn important to do awake for all night and day
if sleep is existing the way it's existing (and it's the same for all species),then there should a reason, and as you say"there is not enough researchs and results about sleep for now"

Re: Create the Filter | Dustin Curtis

You are going to end up going crazy one day and killing everyone around you and then yourself. My girlfriend is going to thank you (hah!)

Incidentally, Giraffes require only a couple of hours of sleep per day, which they get while standing up. Apparently they do this with a series of short naps during the day.
